The Centre for Substance Abuse Prevention, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), in collaboration with the Satellite Unit of Yenepoya Dental College, observed World No Tobacco Day 2025 and the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2025 with a series of impactful activities.
The Valedictory Function was held on 28th June 2025 at the Yenepoya Dental College Auditorium. The event was graced by Dr. Sripati Rao, Pro Vice-Chancellor, as the Chief Guest, and Dr. Akther Husain as the Guest of Honour.
During the function, winners of various competitions organized as part of the observance were felicitated. Additionally, individuals including resident wardens and security guard who made significant contributions towards upholding the university's Substance-Free Policy were recognized for their efforts.
The Yenepoya School of Allied Health Sciences was awarded the Best Satellite Unit Award for its outstanding efforts in promoting substance abuse prevention on campus. In addition, Ms. Adeline, College Coordinator, YSAHS, Dr. Sruthi Nayk, College Coordinator, Yenepoya Dental College , Dr. Viji Prasad, College Coordinator, Yenepoya Nursing College were recognized with the Best Staff Coordinator Award for their exemplary coordination and commitment. Ms. Shia Susan Paul, the Student Representative of YDC, was honored with the Best Student Representative Award for her active involvement and contributions.
The valedictory ceremony was followed by a training session on the topic: "Substance Use Recovery: A Confidential Care Approach." This session was specially designed for faculty coordinators, student representatives, resident wardens, and student welfare officers. The resource person for the training was Dr. Viji Prasad from Yenepoya Nursing College, who provided valuable insights into supporting recovery in a compassionate and confidential manner.
