Centre for Forensic Odontology

Forensic Odontology is a branch of Dentistry which helps in identification of deceased, skeletal remains and criminal assault cases with the help of dental evidences. Centre for Forensic Odontology, Yenepoya Dental College, was established in the year 2021, and focusing on encouraging this new area of dentistry by conducting academic, research and extension activities, involving UG, PG students and faculty from all the specialities . Centre has initiated value added course in forensic odontology, UG –PG-Faculty research projects, international research collaboration, webinars, workshops and extension activities for dental graduates and law enforcing agencies

Mission

Hands-on training for UG and PG students in forensic odontology
Encouraging UG, PG, faculty research, PhD and research collaboration with extramural association/funding
Encouraging collaboration with law enforcing agencies by conducting workshops and sensitizing them about the subject, which will result in case-based identification.
Thrust areas: Age estimation from teeth, sex determination and bite mark analysis.
