PREAMBLE
Laboratory training in dental technology requires the application of a wide range of knowledge and experience in an integrated manner for the provision of appliances for patients. Dental technology is divided into four main areas, fixed prosthodontics, complete denture technology, removable denture technology and orthodontic technology.
The graduate will be prepared to:
- Acquire the breadth of knowledge in the principals of restorative dental prosthesis and dental sciences.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the technical competency/skills necessary to perform at or beyond an entry-level position in a dental laboratory.
- Select and utilize specified materials in the construction of dental prostheses, recognizing the materials limitations and advantages.
- Work and communicate effectively as part of an interdisciplinary health care team.
- Design and construct dental prostheses using current technologies and materials.

- The course is structured with theoretical and practical training at the Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) in collaboration with our industrial collaboration with Dentcare Institute of Dental Technology, with postings at the Dentcare Dental Laboratory in Kerala for industrial training.
OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE
- To provide the participants a systematic and logical exposure to dental Laboratory technology.
- To help the participants to effectively plan restorations for dentulous and edentulous patients.
- To provide a skill oriented interactive sessions on laboratory and Prosthetic techniques.

CURRICULUM OF TRANSACTION

- At Dentcare Institute of Dental Technology, Cochin Campus:
Didactic Lecture, Hands on exercises on patient models.
ELIGIBILITY
- To be eligible for admission a candidate should have passed two year Pre-University examination/ Pre Degree examination/ two years after ten years of schooling or its equivalent as recognized by the Yenepoya(Deemed to be) University and English as language of instruction.
- Candidate needs to secure 40% or above marks in the qualifying examination to be eligible for admission.

FEE STRUCTURE
- First Semester : Rs.1,05,000.00
- Each Semester : Rs.75,000.00
STIPEND
Rs. 5000 per month from the 5 th Semester onwards.
EVALUATION METHOD
- Formative Evaluation:
Evaluation of a course shall be done based on continuous internal assessment (CIA) mode . The marks for CIA shall be 40%
- Summative evaluation:
Theory Examination: 90 Marks
- Practical Examination & Viva Voce – 60 Marks
ATTENDANCE
Minimum 80% attendance is required for attending examination.
PASS CRITERIA
Minimum marks for pass per course shall be 40% CIA and SEE added together.
A Candidate to complete the Bachelors Degree in dental technology at the end of 3 rd Academic year requires to have passed in all the core courses (23), Ability Enhancement Courses (6) & Practical/Laboratory Training (20 credits) of 3 Academic year comprising of six semesters with total 120 credits and Electives of minimum 12 Credits from the list of electives by Yenepoya (Deemed to beUniversity).
