Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry
Pediatric and preventive dentistry is age specific speciality branch that believes in rendering treatment modalities by taking into account the developmental changes of children. The appropriate behaviour management strategies are applied to make dental treatment a pleasurable experience. This specialization is concerned with excellence in dental care for children from infancy to adolescence and encompasses a variety of disciplines, techniques, procedures, and skills that are unique based on the requirements of infants, children and adolescents. With an emphasis on the prevention of oral diseases in children, the specialists provide proactive counselling to the parents regarding prevention that goes beyond caries to address all aspects of children’s oral health.

The department has a total area of around 9000 sq. Ft housing a special care room and a child-friendly undergraduate and Postgraduate clinical area with exclusive paediatric dental chairs.
The department also has extension activities with 2 rural satellite centres and 1 urban centre focusing on oral health care for children with special health care needs at DEIC Wenlock Hospital, Mangalore. Additional equipments in the department include
