Resource person in “World No Tobacco Day 2023” on 31st May 2022, Mangalore, DK organised by DK Zilla Panchayat, Dept of District Health and Family Welfare, District Tobacco Control Cell, D.K., Mangaluru at Karnataka Polytechnic College Auditorium, Mangaluru, DK.

As a part of Women Wellness awareness month, a month long program on Women wellness was organized by Dept of Oral Medicine & Radiology, YDC in association with Zulekha Institute of oncology (supported by Tata trust), Yenepoya (Deemed to be University from 1st February to 15th march 2023. Cancer awareness Outreach program was conducted for the non teaching women staffs of all the constituent colleges of Yenepoya (deemed to be University). Awareness program was followed by the screening tests for oral, breast and cervical cancer. Mamogram, Pap smear and oral examination were done free of cost for all the participants and their friends and relatives during this time.

Dr Rachana Prabhu, Additional Prof, OMR, YDC, Dr Prajna Kini, Junior Consultant, Oncology, Dr Anjum Iphtikar, Associate Professor, Gynec Oncology, Dr Prathima Shetty, Additional Prof, OMR, YDC, Dr. Pavithra Hegde, Community Medicine, YMC were the resource persons for various cancer awareness program.

A total of 7 programs were conducted in various campuses such as Yenepoya Dental College, Yenepoya Medical College, AYUSH campus, YIASCM Balmatta campus, Yenepoya housekeeping and administrative block, Food craft and Yenepoya Institute of technology, Moodabidri. More than 650 participants attended this awareness program. Many participants came forward for screening tests in Zulekha Institute of oncology (supported by tata trust).

As a part of 30 years of celebration of Yenepoya Dental College, programs on “Ill effects of Tobacco and Cancer Awareness” were conducted in various educational institutions in Mangalore by Tobacco Cessation Centre, Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology in collaboration with District Anti tobacco cell, District Health and Family welfare. The program was conducted to create awareness on health effects of tobacco, Cancer in general, oral cancer, breast cancer and cervical cancer. Educational handouts were also given to the students. Dr Prashanth Shenoy, HOD, Dr Rachana Prabhu, Additional Prof, Dr Swetha Sharran Post graduate, Oral Medicine & Radiology and Dr Imran Pasha, Reader, Public Health Dentistry, Yenepoya Dental College, Dr Prajna Kini, Junior Consultant, Palliative Care, Oncology, Dr Ashwini Shetty Dept of Anatomy, Yenepoya Medical College, were the Resource persons for this programme. A total of 1315 students and teachers were benefitted with this program.
