On 10th
June 2025, the Placement Cell of Yenepoya Dental College organized a guest
lecture on the topic:
"INI -
Institutions of National Importance and Dental Post-Graduation (MDS) Courses".
The session aimed to inform and inspire interns about academic opportunities at
premier dental institutions in India designated as Institutes of National
Importance (INIs), and the evolving landscape of MDS education.
The session
began with a welcome address by Dr. Sham S. Bhat, Dean and Chairperson of the
Placement Cell. Following this, Dr. Vivek Amin introduced the distinguished
speaker, Dr. Ramaraj PN, Professor and Head, Department of Dentistry, AIIMS,
Nagpur.
Dr. Laxmikanth Chatra, Principal, and Dr. Sham
S. Bhat, Dean, handed over a certificate and memento to the speaker. The
presidential remarks were then delivered by Dr. Laxmikanth Chatra, appreciating
the relevance of the topic and the depth of information to be shared. Dr.
Haziel Diana Jenifer, Convener, Placement Cell, delivered the vote of thanks
who acknowledged the speaker, organizing team, and participants.
Dr. Ramaraj
delivered an insightful lecture highlighting the role, uniqueness, and academic
structure of INIs like AIIMS and JIPMER, including eligibility criteria, scope,
and career prospects for MDS aspirants. An interactive Q&A session followed
the presentation. Feedbacks were collected from all the participants.
45 Interns and
14 faculty members participated in the guest lecture. Online feedback was also
collected from the Interns at the end of the session through Google Forms. 84%
of the interns gave feedback that the program content and relevance was
excellent and 100% gave feedback that it was helpful in improving their
knowledge about INIs.
