Menstrual cup awareness programme

The Student Council, Yenepoya Dental College organized a Menstrual Cup Awareness program for the I BDS, II BDS students and female faculty members on 2nd February 2024 at 12:15 pm in the Dental College Auditorium. Dr. Varsha Upadya introduced the topic and Dr. Vidya Bhat, Professor, Department of Prosthodontics gave the opening remaks.
Dr. Shreema Kateel briefed the audience regarding the
environmental hazards of disposable sanitary pads and the need for switching to
environmentally friendly alternatives. She gave a detailed lecture on the
selection and usage of the menstrual cup. Dr. Ektha Pai addressed the Frequently
Asked Questions regarding menstrual cup usage.
The lecture was followed by
an interactive session where the faculty members and students raised queries
and few menstrual cup users shared their experience. Dr. Maji Jose, Dean,
Student Affairs, gave the closing remarks and presented certificates of appreciation
to the speakers. The event concluded at 1:45 pm and was attended by 82
participants. The program was compered by Ms. Ayesha Haniya, NSS representative
to the student council.
