Brief report of the Event

1. Introduction: The Placement Cell of Yenepoya Dental College, under the guidance of the Dean, Faculty of Dentistry, Dr. Sham S. Bhat, organized a Campus Interview in collaboration with KDC Dental Group, Bangalore, on the 16th and 17th of October 2025. The objective of the event was to provide BDS Interns and MDS students and Alumni with an opportunity to engage with reputed clinical organizations and explore professional career avenues.

2. Inaugural Session: The drive was inaugurated on 16th October 2025 at 11:00 AM in the YDC Auditorium (5th Floor). The session commenced with an invocation, followed by a warm welcome address by Dr. Sham S. Bhat, Dean, Faculty of Dentistry and Chairperson of the Placement Cell. Dr. Vinay Guggari, Prosthodontist, representing KDC Dental Group, addressed the gathering, introducing the group's clinical network and sharing insights into the organization's vision and career growth pathways. Dr. Laxmikanth Chatra, Principal, gave the presidential address. The inaugural session concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Haziel Jenifer, Convener, Placement Cell. Vice Principal Dr. Hasan Sarfaraz and members of the Placement Cell, Dr. Mallikarjun Ragher, Dr. Deepthi Adappa, Dr. Mithun K and Dr. Ashwin Harekal were also present at the inaugural session.

3. Recruitment Process: The recruitment process was conducted over two days:

  • Day 1 (16th October 2025): 15 candidates (12 BDS and 3 MDS graduates) appeared for the interview.
  • Day 2 (17th October 2025): 12 MDS candidates appeared for the interview.

The recruitment procedure comprised multiple stages, including:

  • Pre-registration of the participants on Google forms
  • Screening of resumes
  • Personal interviews focusing on clinical skills, communication, and professional attitude by the KDC Team

4. Outcome: The recruiters expressed appreciation for the quality, discipline, and preparedness of the candidates. A few candidates were shortlisted for further rounds and will be contacted by the KDC HR team for final placement formalities. The event successfully strengthened the academic-industry collaboration and provided graduating students with valuable exposure to professional recruitment standards.

5. Feedback: Feedback was collected from both recruiters and participants through structured feedback forms. Key highlights included:

  • Excellent coordination by the Placement Cell and student volunteers
  • Smooth logistics and interview arrangements
  • Positive feedback on student performance and institutional support

6. SDG 8 Alignment - Decent Work and Economic Growth: This initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 8 (SDG 8): 'Promote sustained, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment, and decent work for all.' Through the Campus Interview Drive, Yenepoya Dental College contributed to this global goal by:

  • Creating pathways for gainful employment of young dental graduates
  • Encouraging industry collaboration to foster skill development and employability
  • Supporting career readiness and sustainable professional growth among new entrants into the dental workforce

7. Acknowledgment: The Placement Cell extends its sincere gratitude to the University and Institutional Management for their continuous encouragement and logistical support and to the KDC Dental Group for partnering with Yenepoya Dental College to facilitate this career opportunity for its graduates.

8. Conclusion: The Campus Interview drive was a successful initiative in bridging academia and clinical practice. The Placement Cell aims to continue such collaborations with reputed organizations to enhance employability and professional readiness among graduates.
