The Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology organized a Continuing Dental
Education (CDE) program titled "Exploring Multi-Modality Imaging of
Maxillofacial Diseases". The program commenced at 9:00 AM with Dr. Umme
Amarh welcoming all the participants followed by opening remarks by Dr.
Laxmikanth Chatra, Principal, YDC. Dr. Pratima Shetty introduced the speaker, Dr.
Sanjay Mallya, Chair of Oral & Maxillofacial Radiology and Associate Professor
Residency Program Director at the UCLA School of Dentistry, California, USA. The
lecture focused on multi-modality imaging techniques, including Computed
Tomography (CT) and Cone-Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT), with a special
emphasis on Dual Energy CBCT for diagnosing maxillofacial diseases. Key topics
included the staging of bone lesions such as Osteoradionecrosis and their
radiographic evaluation in the context of CBCT and CT imaging, underscoring the
role of advanced imaging technologies in enhancing diagnostic accuracy and treatment
outcomes. The lecture concluded at 11:00 AM.
